Before your first use there are a few items that need to be attended to. Your new grill top comes from us with a protective coating. This coating is used to prevent rust, and must be removed prior to your first use. You need to burn a hot fire in your pit with grill closed for 30 minutes, one hour or more without cover. Then brush the top with a steel bristle brush. Finally, wipe down the hot grill top with a towel soaked in cooking oil to season the grill top.

  1. The grill top needs to be cleaned prior to your first use.
2. After use, empty all ashes. A buildup of ash will stop up the drain hole, and the head will start to rust out.
3. Apply a thin layer of cooking oil to cure the grill top after each use.
4. Either remove the top/grill or swing it out of the way when not cooking to reduce grill distortion.
5. Place an ash bucket under the center of the pit to catch any hot ash that might fall during use. Under Construction. Please come back soon.
